I have no earned income, but I just got a large cash settlement. What's my best choice for a long term retirement investment?

Investing A Large Cash Settlement

It seems like you left out a lot of important details in your question.

1. How old are you now?

2. How large was the settlement, and is it a structured settlement or lump sum?

3. Do you have a family to take care of, or just yourself?

To be honest though, if you have received a large amount of money you should talk to a professional financial advisor in person. Too many people who receive a lot of cash all of a sudden tend to do foolish things with it, and it ends up costing them a fortune. So my advice is to take a little bit of that money, and spend it on a reputable financial advisor in your area.
