Balance Sheet - The financial statement of a business or institution that lists the assets, debts, and owners' investment as of a specific date.

Balanced Fund - an investment company that spreads its investments among stocks and bonds.

Bear Market - a market characterized by falling prices for securities.

Bid Price - the price a buyer is willing to pay for a security.

Blue-Chip Company – a large and credit-worthy company.

Buy-and-Hold Strategy - the investment strategy of purchasing securities and holding them for extended periods of time.

Buy Limit Order - an order to a broker to buy a specified quantity of a security at or below a specified price.

Buy on Margin - to buy securities by putting up only a part, or a margin, of the purchase price and borrowing the remainder.

Buy Order - a brokerage order to purchase a specified quantity of a security.

Buy Stop Order - order to a broker to buy a security if it sells at or above a stipulated stop price.
