Investing In IPOs
Investing in IPOs (initial public offerings) is not really meant for a beginner to investing, but I will explain what it means. An IPO is when a company sells its stock for the first time to the public. The purpose of a company going public is quite simple MONEY. Companies raise money for expanding their businesses by going public. Individual investors without some connection to the company will have a very hard time getting into an IPO at a good price. This is because before the company actually goes public insiders can pick up a lot of shares at discount prices. The most important lesson about IPOs is that they are very risky. This is because there are no guarantees of a company's success, and many IPOs have failed over the years.
