Difference Between Stocks and Dividend Stocks

Dividend stocks distribute part of a company's earnings in proportion to the number of shares each shareholder owns. So if a person owns 100 shares and the cash dividend is $0.50 per share, the holder of the stock will be paid $50.

Regular stocks that do not have dividends do not distribute such earnings.
