Commodity Investing

So we have discussed how investing in commodities can be a bit risky, but we want to be fair and explain why commodities are a popular investment for many as well.

To put it simply, the world's population continues to grow at an astonishing rate which means people will continue to need commodities. Therefore, it would be easy to come to the conclusion that commodity prices will continue to rise as the demand for them continues to grow along with the world's population.

In addition to the population growth, urbanization and industrialization is exploding all over the world. All of these things are going to increase the demand for raw materials thus increasing the prices of many commodities.

One more important detail regarding commodities is they tend to be inelastic goods. This simply means that regardless of price people will still continue to buy them because they are a basic necessity of life. An example would be gasoline; because people will tend to continue to buy gas even at higher prices because they require transportation to function.
